Sam's Southern Eatery: Authentic Southern Cuisine in Shreveport

We stopped in here for dinner driving through town. If you love fried seafood you'll love this place. Definitely recommend the red beans and rice for a side. Crista was our server and she was so friendly and welcoming. Lots of southern charm here.

Rolling through Shreveport, I decided to give Sam's Southern Eatery a shot after seeing some solid Yelp buzz. Grabbed a to-go order, and they whipped it up pretty quick--always a plus when you're on the road. The staff was friendly, but the lady taking orders seemed kinda swamped--she was juggling phone orders and a bunch of folks at once. We ordered onion rings, but the batter was a bit heavy, which took away from the flavor. I went for the fish and shrimp combo, and my partner got the half crawfish, half shrimp po' boy--both had some decent Southern flavor. We topped it off with red velvet cake and cookies & cream cake, which were just okay. Next time, I might dine in to see if that ups the experience

The service was AMAZING. I am 9 months pregnant and everyone was as sweet as pie. Jessica was my server and she is the most down to earth, funny and charismatic person ever. Treasure is also super kind and both Treasure and Jessica provide such a warm atmosphere with their personalities. Food is good as always and came out hot. Cake is DELICIOUS!!

Our Uber driver recommended this business to us and said it was the best location for this company! And she was right! He got two catfish platters, half grilled half fried and an array of sides to include rice, french fries, fried bread, sautéed vegetables, and turnip greens. The food food was absolutely amazing and I will be back There was a great set up for restaurant, dining and walk-in orders and pick ups. Everything was clean and there was welcoming environment. The staff were extremely nice and made sure we had extra napkins and sauces.

On my trip back home from "HOME", I found the perfect meal. My meal was made fresh to order and packaged securely for the road trip. The bite size okra pieces weren't gummy or goey as others have been known to overly cook. My shrimp, fish and fries were crispy and not greasy so I was able to taste my hot sauce without getting a queasy feeling in my tummy. While waiting for my order I listened to others diners and could quickly surmise that this is a Sunday hit spot. The employees are very gracious and accommodating to all. The entire restaurant was very clean, lively and very welcoming. I'm adding this to my list for food to go on way to and from because service was quick and the price was just like I like it!!! There's nothing like real Louisiana food!!!

We were traveling and decided to stay in town for the night. Sam's was recommended to us by the hotel attendant and I'm glad she did. The food was great southern cuisine! Sam's is on a side road but easy to spot. It's decorated in fun southern fare with "Southern Cuisine" repeating everywhere and there is even a small arcade at the back of the restaurant! The menu has A LOT of options, so order an appetizer because it may take a while to figure what you want to order. The service was prompt, friendly and accommodating. My husband asked for hamburger Patties on poboy instead of bun and he said it was DELICIOUS! (So much that I didn't get a chance to snap a pic!) We had the boudin with cheese egg rolls and they were FABULOUS :) I had the fried fish with fried okra & Mac and cheese, also delicious! I'm looking forward to stopping by next time we are coming through town! Definitely recommend!

We tried several other local Sam's Southern Eatery locations in the past but after trying this location several years ago, we only go to this one. All locations are a good value for what you get. All Sam's are notorious for giving large portions and extra of what you order. For example, if you order a 4 piece fish they give you 5. Other locations have more of a ghetto feel to me. Here you enter a nice, clean, and spacious restaurant. Food is consistently prepared right. You don't feel rushed in and out. You wait to be seated if dining in and the waitresses are friendly and attentive. Cece is THE WAITRESS you want. She thinks of everything and makes certain you have the best dining experience possible. You will not be lacking any condiments or be sitting with an empty drink cup. Only downside is you know you gotta reward her with a large tip. You better treat her right! We love their fried fish and grilled fish. The grilled fish also come with grilled veggies instead of fries. That's usually what I get for myself. Fried green tomatoes, bring'em on. Fried shrimp and shrooms, oh yeah. My daughter gets their fried chicken strip kids meal with fries and they aren't skinny strips. They are are at least 4" x 4" and super tender and juicy. At least 3 pieces. She always takes at least 2 strips home with some fries. Only item I don't like is their grilled chicken. It just seems like it was marinated in a mild orange-looking sauce and steamed...no grill but maybe it just steams on the grill in liquid. Fried chicken gizzards are ok but need to be tenderized 1st on a pressure cooker; Your teeth get a workout. Fried chicken livers are good here if you're in to them. They have great value family meal pans that we often call in and pick up. We get the fried fish or grilled fish or sometimes ask for half n half. They come with loads of fries and hush puppies. I eat too much when I go here....but it's good.

Ordered the wings and Mac and cheese. Super delicious. Service was great. A lot of food, I couldn't eat it all. Inside is nice with that coffee shop ambiance.
